The beautiful, rural village of Appleshaw lies in Hampshire and borders Wiltshire to the north and our lovely preschool is part of the Village Hall set in stunning, un-spoilt, natural surroundings.
We are a small, 24 place setting and take children from 2-years-old until they go to school, offering a warm, loving, and nurturing environment for our local children. We have access to a free flow garden and, also the grounds of the local village Memorial field offering opportunities for our children to explore, grow and learn.
We are very lucky to have so much natural space outside to discover and the children love the local park close by enjoying the freedom to swing, run around and investigate.
Play is at the centre of everything we do at Appleshaw, and our small and dedicated staff encourage our children to explore, investigate, be inquisitive and find out for themselves about the world around them.
Our children’s learning is firmly grounded in the Early Years Foundation Stage which promotes all areas of learning and all our activities are planned to make them age and stage appropriate from our very youngest child to those preparing for school.
As well as exploring the sand and mud, bug hunting and water play, we LOVE being creative, painting, drawing, and sticking and when it’s time to rest, we love nothing more than a story chosen by our children in our cosy book corner.
We are an inclusive and diverse setting and cater for all children’s needs, disabilities, and religions.
We have good links with our local school and visit with the older children, helping them to become familiar with the teachers and building in preparation for school.
We are registered by OFSTED and approved registered providers of Early Years Education Funding from Hampshire County Council. Please see our Parent Information page for prices and funding for more details or if you would like to contact us please use the contact form below.
Our settings have been open since 2019 and unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the suspension of all but regulatory inspections, we have not had our initial inspection and are unable to provide a report at this time. As soon as it is safe to do so and Ofsted return to inspecting this year, we will be proud to display our report once we have been inspected. In the meantime, please feel free to contact us with any questions you have, and our Managers will be more than happy to discuss their settings with you.
Play sets the foundation for the development of critical social and emotional knowledge and skills. Through play, children learn to forge connections with others, to share, negotiate and resolve conflicts, and teaches children leadership and group skills.
Play is a natural tool that children use to develop their resilience and coping skills as they learn to navigate relationships and deal with social challenges.
Play satisfies a basic human need to express imagination, curiosity and creativity which are key resources in a knowledge-driven world. The critical skills that children acquire through play in the preschool years form part of the fundamental building blocks of future complex 21st century skills.
At Launchpad, we provide opportunities for learning through play, both indoors and outside. All our children are encouraged and supported in their creative and imaginative play and our aim is for their time with us, to be a fun, stimulating, and valuable learning experience.
My name is Gemma Cosgrave and I have been working as a manager for over 18 years. I am a qualified Level 4 practitioner and have had a lot of experience working with children from 0-5 years. I have attended many training courses over the years in Safeguarding, SEN, First Aid, Food Hygiene, Early Years and many more that have helped me create an environment where our children feel safe to explore, investigate and use their imaginations.
I enjoy watching the children learn new experiences and extending this so that they want to find out more. I love helping them to grow in confidence, finding out new things and being amazed by the world around them. We have fun and laughter every day, every day is a learning day!
